About us

We are Nick and Gaby Cooper - Gaby has lived on the Island for over thirty years, and Nick moved here in 2002, however all his immediate family live here and he has strong Manx connections going back decades if not centuries!  We live in the island’s capital Douglas with our two children and small dog, Rosie.  We are an active family who enjoy walking, cycling, swimming (in the pool and the sea!), kayaking, and we love discovering new parts of the island as well as revisiting old haunts.

Bishop's Lodge is next to our family home and we have been running it as holiday accommodation since 2005.  The main house was once the official residence of The Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man.  The house is now known by its original name of Hillsdene, but we retained a part of its ecclesiastical history in our naming of the Bishop’s Lodge.  We renovated the Lodge, which was once the Bishop's office, and transformed it into a cosy, private apartment for two people.

In 2017 we bought and completely renovated Chapel Bay Lodge, in Port St Mary, using design ideas from our travels around Europe, and taking inspiration from the stunning seaside location.

Over the years we have continuously upgraded and maintained both properties in order to offer the highest standard of accommodation to our guests, and ensure their experience is the best it could be.

We really enjoy what we do, meeting guests from all over the world, and playing a part in their holiday and discovery of the beautiful Isle of Man.
